Why did you choose to work in the fitness industry?:

I truly wanted to have fun and look forward to going to work every day. This industry provides challenges, fun and the ability to stay fit.

What do you love about instructing Boot Camp/Boxing?

Group fitness of any kind is a challenge. This is an opportunity for people to come together for the sake of fitness, fun and comradery.

What do you feel are your best assets as a fitness trainer?

I believe I have the ability to reach a group quickly.  To assess different fitness levels and provide a challenging workout for all levels.

What do you like to do in your own time (when you are not working)?

I have 4 wonderful kids under the age of 8, hopefully helping them to be strong, self-reliant and healthy.  My wife and I spend our free time with the kids.

What is the most challenging or rewarding fitness event / achievement you have tackled in keeping yourself fit?

The fitness industry allows me to train indoors, outdoors with various forms of equipment. I think what I like most is the variety. Improving upon 1RM with Olympic lifts is probably what I like best.

What advice would you give to someone who thinks they are too unfit / too old / too busy to try a fitness class?

The advantages to training, no matter what level, far outweigh the disadvantages. Just do it!

What’s your best tip for getting up early to exercise?

Go to bed early and wake up to water

What are your favourite songs for working out to?

Hard, heavy. Tool, Alice in Chains

What’s your favourite running route?

Hard, short sprints at the park

What are your tips for staying motivated to exercise?

Find a positive in every session. Use variety

What are your favourite fitness related books/magazines/websites?

What are your short term and longer term fitness goals for the coming year?

Short term -110kg power clean. Long- 200kg Deadlift
