Our trainers’ fitness goals for 2011

To inspire you and get you thinking about your own fitness goals, I thought I’d share some of the HBF trainers’ goals for 2011…

Steve
By the end of 2011 I want to reach the following…

HBF trainer, Steve

Kettlebells:
80 x Two arm swings with 32kg
12 minutes Clean and jerk with 24kg
10 Snatch’s each arm 32kg
3 Turkish get up’s each arm 32kg
2 minutes full Swingblade with 20kg.

Bodyweight exercises:
L sit to handstand
Gargoyle to headstand and back to gargoyle x 5
Hold handstand for 1 minute
Handstand pushups to equal pull ups
Hold wrestlers bridge for 4 minutes

I’m working at close quarter combat skills with one mate, and working on striking harder with another mate.

(Jodie’s note: Woah! My eyes are bugging just reading this list! Perhaps you should ask Steve for a demo in his classes!)

HBF trainer, Michelle

My fitness goals for next year are to train for that event, increase my strength with regard to being able to lift my own weight, and lose some kgs (so there is less to lift ;) he heee

HBF trainer, Sylvia

Sylvia

Despite the holiday period, I’ve decided to take my fitness to the next level by tackling the Tough Bloke/Chick Challenge in March 2011. My training includes intervals, running and resistance training incorporating bodyweight, TRX, kettlebells and boxing to improve overall muscular strength, endurance and core.

I have considered taking a kickboxing class, which will not only help me with my fitness but also incorporate new exercises for my clients.

Since registering for the Tough Bloke Challenge, I’ve been a lot more motivated to train harder; however, I feel that a new challenge such as kickboxing will just boost my motivation in general and keep me excited and “pumped” about training, especially when I’m learning new skills too

HBF trainer, Jono

I’ll be concentrating on the Gold Coast marathon in July, before getting back into Triathlons for the Shepparton Half Ironman in November.  The plan is to build up my base enough to do a full Ironman in 2012!

Emma
Is planning on 3 x half marathons in 2011 and will complete her black belt grading in Kickboxing at the end of 2011.  She already has her first marathon in her sights for 2012.

Tough Bloke/Chick Challenge – March

No time goal, just to compete and complete!  My training for this will focus on improving strength, muscular endurance, core stability and particularly the ability to lift and hold my own body weight.

Gold Coast Half Marathon – July
To finish in under 1 hour 45 mins.  This will mean rehabilitating my calves to prevent the cramping issue I encountered in my last half marathon.  My training will incorporate 4 runs per week- long run, intervals, tempo runs, as well as regular physiotherapy.

Flexibility
To continue my daily back stretching routine (from my wonderful Back in Motion Physiotherapist, Adrian Quinn).

Still to decide on my event goals for the remainder of 2011.  I’m considering The Eureka Stair Climb, or an Adventure Race.  I’ll keep you posted!
